Starke/Schell Registers

The Starke/Schell Registers give brief details and an ownership history of all merchant vessels over a certain size completed in various years between 1890 and 1984. Details include basic dimensions, and tonnage [definition], an indication of engine type, name of builders and yard numbers, original and subsequent owners, and fate.

Being progressively compiled by two authors and published by the World Ship Society, the Starke/Schell Registers so far available are listed below.

Listing every sea-going powered vessel over 300 gross tons built during:

  • 1890-1897, 1900-1906, 1912-1924  

Listing every sea-going powered vessel over 1,000 gross tons built during:

  • 1951, 1953, 1956, 1957, 1959-1965, 1974-1975, 1977-1984
