Description:Photograph. Rank's Solent Flour Mill, completed in 1934, was the first group of buildings to be erected on the Docks Extension Industrial Estate in the Western Docks. The mills, which are a famous Southampton landmark, occupy an area of over 2 acres. The buildings suffered considerable damage on the night of 30th November, the worst night of the Blitz in Southampton, with the flour mill and warehouse being completely destroyed.. They were rebuilt after the war.
