SS Shieldhall

Shieldhall was built in 1955 to carry treated sewage from Glasgow to the sea for dumping. She was sold to Southern Water in 1977 and then into preservation in 1988.

The steamship operates cruises and excursions around the Solent and further afield. Engine room courses are also available where you can learn how to prepare the vessel for a voyage and spend a day at sea, operating the boilers and sailing the the ship.

Shieldhall is located at Berth 48 in Southampton`s Eastern Docks, near Dock Gate 4. The vessel is open to visitors by arrangement with the owners, Solent Steam Packet Ltd and ABP Southampton. For more information, contact Solent Steam Packet.
