Hall of Aviation

Solent Skies (formerly Southampton Hall of Aviation) depicts the history of powered flight in the Solent area and is home to some of the 20th century's most well-known aircraft.

The museum has a fascinating collection of aircraft on display and tells the story of twenty-six companies, the largest flying boat operation in the world and the legendary Spitfire, designed and developed here in Southampton.

A Short Sandringham class flying boat takes pride of place in the museum. Over 86 ft (25 m) long, she regularly flew between Australia and New Zealand. Climb aboard her, experience the conditions inside and view her flight deck.
