Southampton City Museums
About us
Visit Southampton Maritime Museum to learn more about the port
and shipping. The Museum houses many exciting displays on all
aspects of Southampton`s maritime history. See and hear about the
growth of the docks, the romantic era of the transatlantic liners,
like Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth,
and the ill-fated Titanic. You can even touch
in All hands on deck, an interactive area for
children and adults to explore the development from sail to
steam. Learn more about the museum here. It is not possible to display everything in the Maritime Museum.
To view more of Southampton`s unique maritime collections, from
menu cards to marine engines, you can visit the Collections
Management Centre. Here, all different sorts of objects are looked
after to give an insight into the social and industrial past of
Southampton. A study room and library will help you to carry out
your own research, but you need to make an appointment to visit.
