Description:Photograph. A photograph of God's House Tower notable for showing the statue to Prince Albert, the Prince Consort. The full saga of the inglorious fate of the statue is told by A.G.K. Leonard in Journal of the Southampton Local History Forum, No 4, Spring 1993, pp 17 - 21. It was placed on the Platform in 1877 Owing to its shabby condition, the statue was removed in 1912 and, because of the Prince's German origins, was broken up during the 1st. World War after soldiers found it in the corporation yard,
