Alfred Pegler, Silversmith, 151 High Street Order a print of this image Unique ID: 357 Description: Drawn and engraved by philip brannon. 7.5*11 cm. This advertisement for Alfred Pegler first appeared in the Forbes & Knibb Southampton street directory, 1851. Pegler was described as a goldsmith, silversmith, jeweller, watch and clock manufacturer, engraver and hair worker. He also operated a foreign coin exchange on the premises. The engraving shows an example of Pegler's work for George Laishley, Mayor of Southampton in 1849. In the background Pegler's shop can be seen opposite the Star Hotel.
