| Unique ID: | 3999 | | Description: | Photograph. The first cinema in Park Street opened in a converted building in 1913. It was called the Cinema Hall, changing its name to the Regent the following year. This cinema closed in 1929 and was replaced by a new cinema, also called the Regent, in 1932. The new cinema had entrances in Park Street and the High Street. The High Street entrance (seen in this photograph) was originally a shop. When the cinema closed in 1961 the entrance was converted back into a shop. The cinema itself is now Sainsbury's Supermarket. | | Creator: | Unknown | | Date: | 1975 | | Copyright: | Southampton City Council | | Partner: | SCC Libraries | | Partner ID: | Unknown |
