So when we got to Southampton, she went into the Graving dock, that was the first thing she done, and I think they changed the propellers because they'd found some ….   something wrong when they brought her around, and she was in Graving dock there, and she was up there for some time and all this work was being carried on. 

Question:             And you worked all through this period?

Yeah, we was on what they called standby, because there were still some people to feed and we used to do it in shifts and during ah the standby periods that was when I used to wander around the ship and see what they was up to, and  the... particularly that and her sister when they was doing the Veranda grill, you know they were quite...quite able artists and they painted all these figures and you know you'd see it appearing before your very eyes.  And there was all this work being done in the main dining room where this boat goes across the Atlantic you know and that was all being fitted up there.   All the … all that sort of work was being done in Southampton.
