PortCities Southampton includes sound files, recordings of people talking about their lives in the town, working in the docks or onboard ship.

We have provided sound files in MP3 format. They can be listened to on Macs and computers running Windows.

Most of our clips are less than 300kb in size, so they will start playing within a minute of loading, with an average modem.

To enable you to listen the sound you will need to have a media player on your computer. Most computers have programs for playing MP3 audio files already, so you can start listening straight away.

If you do not have a suitable media player installed on your computer, you can download one from www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia. (Other media players are available).
